Chelsea manger Jose Mourinho has said that the club needed to sign Didier Drogba.
The 36-year-old has rejoined the Blues after leaving Galatasary following the expiration of his contract with the Turkish outfit.
Despite signing Diego Costa earlier in the summer and having Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku at his disposal, Mourinho is delighted to also have Drogba as part of his striking options.
"First of all when he came, for everybody else it looks like he never left the club," the Daily Star quotes him as saying. "It was so normal, nothing new because he knows everybody, everybody knows him.
"He was ever present even when he wasn't [here]. Chelsea belonged to him even in the last two years when he was in a Galatasary and Shanghai shirt.
"So it looks like he went for a short holiday and come back, so everything is normal. But yes, I think we need him. We need him as a player for our squad to be the way I like."
Drogba scored 157 goals for Chelsea in his first spell at the club.
