Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew 'wishes Patrick Bamford all the best' after the Chelsea forward apologised for taking a parting shot at the club earlier this week.

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has insisted that he has no problem with Patrick Bamford after the striker took to social media to apologise for his recent comments about the London club.

The 22-year-old joined Palace on loan from Chelsea at the start of the season, but decided to end his time at Selhurst Park six months early after becoming frustrated with a lack of first-team football.

Bamford initially branded his time at Palace "terrible", before back-tracking and issuing an apology on Wednesday.

Pardew has said that as far as he is concerned, there is no problem between himself and Bamford, whom the Palace manager has backed to be "a great player going forward".

"Patrick Bamford's comments yesterday were much more near the mark. I like to think he'll be a great player going forward," Pardew told reporters.

"I wish Patrick all the best. It's been a learning curve for him but I have no regrets and I have a relationship with him going forward. I really hope he fulfils his potential because he has nice attributes as a person and hopefully they'll match with him as a player."

Bamford has revealed that he would "ideally" like to join another Premier League club for the second half of the season.
