Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has admitted that he was pleased to get on the scoresheet but would have preferred a win against Chelsea.

The former Swansea City playmaker's first-half strike had given Spurs the lead at White Hart Lane before they were pegged back in the second half by a goal from John Terry, as the game ended all square.

"It's nice to get another goal, especially against Chelsea at home, but I would have preferred the three points," Sigurdsson told his club's official website.

"We played well in the first half, created a lot of chances, got the goal but in the second half, Chelsea were on top until [Fernando] Torres was sent off.

"We then dominated the last 10 minutes but they defended well and we couldn't get past them. We've a lot of confidence and I think if we'd have scored the second goal it would have killed the game."

Tottenham are third in the Premier League after six games this season.
