Chelsea captain John Terry has admitted that he may have to be patient ahead of a potential return to Chelsea's starting lineup.
The 32-year-old played 45 minutes for the club's Under-21 side on Thursday evening as he steps up his return from a knee injury, but despite revealing that his knee felt "totally fine", Terry acknowledged that he may have to bide his time before returning to the first team at Stamford Bridge.
Terry told Chelsea TV: "I have come through alright. Initially I was going to play between 30 and 45 so I managed to get through the first half and the knee feels totally fine which is the main thing.
"I felt fine, totally fine. Passing, tackling, everything felt fine. It's really positive to come through a game and hopefully give myself a chance to be back involved with the first team.
"Maybe it is too soon to get back starting. The lads have been playing well as well, so I know better than anybody I have to wait my time and be patient and try to get back in the squad first, then the team after that."
Terry has not played since suffering the injury in Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Liverpool in November.
