Chelsea captain John Terry has revealed that the players are eager to see interim manager Guus Hiddink stay at the club beyond the end of the current season.

Hiddink arrived at Chelsea for his second spell with the club languishing in the lower reaches of the Premier League table having lost nine of the opening 16 games of their title defence under Jose Mourinho.

However, the Dutchman has steered the club back into the top half of the table and is yet to lose a domestic game on his return, and Terry believes that he will be a manager in high demand if he moves on as planned at the end of the campaign.

"We've all kind of said it but the club's made that clear [that Hiddink staying is unlikely], he's made it clear as well. Certainly what he has done is put himself in the shop window. I bet there's a million clubs out there, seeing what he's done at the football club," Terry is quoted as saying by PA.

"Who knows? It might be an opportunity for him, or whether he'll stay in a role within the club I'm not sure. Both times Guus [has managed Chelsea he] has been perfect. The way we were performing under Jose, we didn't do him credit, we didn't do ourselves credit, and I think this form was going to come.

"That's not taking away from Guus and what he's done, but it's very fair to look at it and differentiate the two because it's not fair on Jose because he was unbelievable what he's done at our football club, and Guus has come in and picked up the reins again and taken us in a really good direction."

Chelsea will look to make it 13 Premier League games unbeaten when they host Stoke City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
