Chelsea restored their six-point lead at the top of the Premier League table on Sunday with a narrow 3-2 win away to Hull City.

The visitors got off to a flying start as goals from Eden Hazard and Diego Costa put them 2-0 up inside the opening 10 minutes.

However, Hull pulled one back through Ahmed Elmohamady on 27 minutes before Abel Hernandez capitalised on a mistake by Thibaut Courtois just 74 seconds later to make it 2-2.

Both sides toiled in the second half, but it was Chelsea who secured the spoils with just 12 minutes left thanks to substitute Loic Remy.

Hull City

Goal

Allan McGregor: There was little Hull's goalkeeper could have done about Chelsea's first two goals, but he made a bad error for the third. The Scot allowed the ball to squirm under him when he really should have saved it. (6/10)

Defence

Michael Dawson: Looked solid throughout. Did a good job in dealing with the likes of Costa, Hazard and Willian. (7/10)

Alex Bruce: Enjoyed his personal duel with Costa as he kept the Spaniard under wraps for long periods. Headed and kicked most of the things that came his way. (7/10)

Paul McShane: Put his body on the line a few times, but he was slightly less effective than the rest of his defensive colleagues. (6/10)

Andrew Robertson: Got up and down the left flank with plenty of enthusiasm. Showed good awareness to set up Elmohamady for Hull's first goal. (7/10)

Midfield

Ahmed Elmohamady: An erratic performance from the Egyptian, who only came to life in fits and starts. That said, he took his goal well after getting into a good position in the box. (6/10)

David Meyler: Struggled to make an impact for the hosts in midfield. Was subsequently taken off with 10 minutes remaining. (5/10)

Jake Livermore: Needed lots of stamina to run from box to box in an anchoring midfield role. Often showed a desire to get forward as well. (6/10)

Gaston Ramirez: Occasionally impressed in the final third for Hull, though he mostly found it difficult to trouble Chelsea. (5/10)

Attack

Dame N'Doye: An inconsistent outing for the striker. His movement and pace gave the visitors food for thought, though he struggled to maintain this for the whole 90 minutes. (6/10)

Abel Hernandez: Looked much more livelier than his strike partner. Was guilty of a poor miss early on, but he was alert to the danger to get Hull level midway through the first half. (7/10)

Substitutes

Robbie Brady: Had little impact on the match when he came on for the final 10 minutes. (5/10)

Sone Aluko: Added a different dimension to Hull's attack late on. However, he did not have the desired effect. (6/10)

Stephen Quinn: Only registered a handful of touches in the final 10 minutes as the match became increasingly scrappy. (5/10)

Chelsea

Goal

Thibaut Courtois: Made a dreadful error for Hull's second goal, but he went some way to making up for it in the second half with a fine triple save. Overall, this was a mixed afternoon for the Belgian. (6/10)

Defence

Branislav Ivanovic: A typical showing from the full-back, who defended doggedly and made sure that he got forward whenever he could. (6/10)

Gary Cahill: Another unconvincing performance from the England man. Made one or two errors that could have been costly for his side. (5/10)

John Terry: Solid enough from the Chelsea skipper, though he struggled to organise his teammates when the game was turning against them. (6/10)

Filipe Luis: Was hard in the tackle and decisive going forward. An impressive afternoon for the Brazilian when the rest of his defensive colleagues sometimes looked unsure. (7/10)

Midfield

Ramires: Drifted in and out of the game when he could have done a better job of stamping his authority in midfield. (5/10)

Nemanja Matic: A quiet day for the Serb. As the game became more physical, he was often found lacking. (6/10)

Willian: Zipped around in the final third with lots of energy. Played a key role in Chelsea's winner, squaring for Remy to slot in. (7/10)

Cesc Fabregas: Did not make his usual mark on the game, though he was an important part in the visitors' best attacking moves. (6/10)

Eden Hazard: Got the away side on their way with a superb goal before spearheading their attack with pace, skill and imagination. (8/10)

Attack

Diego Costa: Got roughed up a few times by the robust Hull defence, but mostly stood his ground. Took his goal really well, curling the ball home from a tight angle. (7/10)

Substitutes

Oscar: Struggled to adapt to the pace of the game when he came off the bench with 30 minutes left. (5/10)

Loic Remy: Made an instant impact, scoring a matter of seconds after entering the action. Did not do a great deal else after that. (7/10)

Kurt Zouma: Helped to shore up Chelsea's defence during the final 10 minutes as Hull pushed for an equaliser. (6/10)
