England's Frank Lampard has stated that Chelsea teammate John Terry is not a racist.
The England captain has been accused of racially abusing Queen's Park Rangers' Anton Ferdinand during a Premier League game, allegations that he strongly denies.
Lampard, who will lead Capello's side out at Wembley this evening as Terry is on the bench, responded to the question of whether Terry was a racist by saying: "That's a ridiculous question. No. Absolutely not. Absolutely not.
"I work with John closely. I speak with him all the time and work with him, as I always have. It's a difficult time for him.
"If it was a difficult time for me, I wouldn't want someone coming in and asking me 'what's going on, how do you feel?' so I've let him be."
Terry will regain the armband from Lampard for England's second friendly against Sweden on Tuesday.
