Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the match as Chelsea recorded a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues entered the match off the back of three straight losses in all competitions, but they were able to secure a huge three points at Stamford Bridge courtesy of a second-half header from Havertz.
The result has moved Chelsea onto 28 points, but they remain in 10th position in the table, while Palace sit 12th on 22 points, having suffered their eighth league loss of the campaign.
The hosts started the match on the front foot, but it was Palace that had the first opportunity in the 19th minute, with Tyrick Mitchell's effort being kept out by Blues goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who had initially failed to deal with a dangerous cross from Michael Olise, which was flicked on by Wilfried Zaha.
Kepa then had to save a powerful volley from Olise moments later, before Vicente Guaita did brilliantly down the other end to keep out a drive from Thiago Silva, who had been forward for a corner.
Chelsea confirmed the signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk during the first half, with the Blues beating Arsenal to the signature of the Ukraine international from Shakhtar Donetsk.
Back on the field, Havertz headed a Hakim Ziyech delivery over the crossbar in the 32nd minute, before Havertz just failed to make contact on a brilliant cross from Conor Gallagher in the 40th minute.
Both goalkeepers were then called into action in first-half stoppage time, with Kepa keeping out a flick from Jeffrey Schlupp before Guaita tipped a strike from Ziyech over the crossbar down the other end.
Mudryk was paraded to the Chelsea fans at the interval, with the 22-year-old signing a contract at Stamford Bridge until June 2030, and he is said to have cost the club an initial £62m plus a further £27m in bonuses.
Kepa had to make a smart save to keep out Zaha's strike in the 56th minute, and Chelsea then took the lead in the 64th minute of the contest through Havertz, who headed a Ziyech delivery into the back of the net.
Chelsea had a chance to double their lead in the 71st minute when Jorginho found Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with a brilliant pass, but Guaita was quick off his line to smother the ball.
Potter's side had another opportunity in the 81st minute when Mason Mount delivered a brilliant cross into the Palace box, but Havertz and Aubameyang both failed to make contact on the ball.
Cheick Doucoure had Palace's best chance late on, but the midfielder's effort from outside the box was kept out by Kepa, and Chelsea, who had a chance to score a second late on through Aubameyang, were able to close the match out to secure a huge three points.
Next up for the Blues in the league is a trip to Liverpool next weekend, while Palace will be bidding to return to winning ways when they host Manchester United on Wednesday night. body check tags ::
