Jose Mourinho marked his return as manager of Chelsea by overseeing a 1-0 pre-season friendly victory against a Singha All Star XI in Bangkok this afternoon.
The touring Blues started the stronger of the two sides in the Thai capital and almost took the lead in the 18th minute, but Michael Essien's headed effort cannoned to safety off the crossbar.
However, with nine minutes to go before the break, they did find the net. Debutant Wallace was brought down inside the area and Romelu Lukaku, who spent last season on loan with West Bromwich Albion, converted the resultant penalty.
The Belgian had another chance to double the advantage on the stroke of half time, but his effort from Kevin de Bruyne's cross was saved by Kritsana Klanklin in goal.
Branislav Ivanovic missed Chelsea's best chance after the restart, while veteran Belux Bukasa Kasongo headed wide for the hosts, despite being just three yards out.
