AC Milan manager Vincenzo Montella has insisted that he has no interest in signing Cesc Fabregas from Chelsea as the midfielder 'lacks the characteristics' required.
The Rossoneri have been heavily linked with the Spanish playmaker, who is thought to have been the subject of a failed summer bid by the Serie A side.
Montella is only interested in bringing in a direct replacement for injured skipper Riccardo Montolivo, however, and claims that Fabregas therefore does not fit the description for type of player he is looking for.
"We're looking for a player who has the characteristics that Montolivo has, who can also operate in a defensive-midfield two," he is quoted as saying by The Sun. "Fabregas? He doesn't have those characteristics."
Fabregas has made just one Premier League start for Chelsea this season, which came in the heavy 3-0 defeat to former employers Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last month.
