Barcelona boss Xavi 'planning double Chelsea swoop'

Barcelona are keen to sign Chelsea defenders Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen next year, according to a report.

Barcelona boss Xavi is allegedly keen to bring Chelsea defenders Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen to Camp Nou next year.

Both players only have deals with the London giants until the end of the 2021-22 campaign, although a recent report claimed that Azpilicueta was set to sign a one-year extension.

Discussions over a new deal for Christensen have seemingly broken down, though, with the Champions League holders struggling to come to an agreement with the Denmark international.

According to journalist Gerard Romero, Azpilicueta and Christensen are both viewed as leading targets, with the pair potentially being available on free transfers.

Barcelona are planning to be active during the January transfer window but will need to be inventive in the market due to their ongoing financial problems.

The Catalan giants have also been linked with Chelsea attacker Hakim Ziyech, with the club keen to boost their forward options for the second half of the 2021-22 season.
