Cesar Azpilicueta would reportedly prefer to extend his contract at Chelsea than accept a new challenge elsewhere at the end of the season.

Having made 455 appearances and won eight trophies since his arrival in 2012, Azpilicueta has already established himself as a legendary figure at Stamford Bridge.

However, as it stands, the 32-year-old has less than six months remaining on his contract, allowing him to hold discussions with foreign clubs ahead of a potential exit.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have both been heavily linked with an approach for the versatile defender, giving him the chance to play in La Liga for the first time since 2009-10.

However, according to The Athletic, everything points to Azpilicueta being settled at Chelsea and the Spaniard wanting to pen fresh terms with the West Londoners.

The report suggests that Azpilicueta and his family are happy with life in England, leaving the player to wait for further talks with Chelsea's hierarchy.

Azpilicueta has made 23 starts and three substitute appearances in all competitions this campaign. body check tags ::
