Chelsea have reportedly decided to up their interest in signing Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.
Due to the uncertainty regarding the managerial situation at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are yet to bring in any new players ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
However, it is becoming increasingly likely that former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri will replace Antonio Conte in the coming days, and the Blues are looking to make quick progress in the transfer market.
According to the London Evening Standard, Chelsea have bid £35m to try to sign Italy international Rugani, who has previously played for Sarri earlier in his career.
The report suggests that Juventus are keen to keep Rugani in Turin but the 23-year-old - who still has three years remaining on his contract - is allegedly prepared to leave, having only made 23 starts in Serie A and Champions League fixtures during the most recent campaign.
