Chelsea have announced that Ethan Ampadu has joined Serie A side Venezia on a season-long loan after signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
The Wales international initially joined Chelsea from Exeter City in the summer of 2017 before featuring for RB Leipzig and Sheffield United in temporary spells.
Ampadu was due to become a free agent in the summer of 2023, but Chelsea have now revealed that the 20-year-old is now contracted to the club until 2024 before heading to Venezia.
The defender spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Sheffield United and made 29 appearances for the Blades in all competitions, including 23 starts during their doomed Premier League season.
Ampadu has only featured 12 times for Chelsea in all competitions over the past four years, while he made three appearances for Wales at Euro 2020.
