Chelsea have moved to deny reports that the club have opened contract talks with England midfielder Frank Lampard.
The club's chief executive Ron Gourlay appeared to suggest that the 34-year-old was in discussions with the Blues on Tuesday.
However, according to Sky Sports News, the club's hierarchy have insisted that Gourlay was "misquoted" at a press conference in Bangkok.
Lampard needs three more goals to draw level with Bobby Tambling's record of 202 strikes for the club.
