Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei has provided a further update on his future plans at Stamford Bridge.

Having initially been exiled from the first-team ranks soon after Enzo Maresca's arrival, it appeared highly likely that the Italy Under-21 international would leave before the end of the summer transfer window.

With Chelsea needing to bolster their position with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability regulations, a permanent or temporary exit were on the table.

However, the 21-year-old ultimately remained with the West Londoners and has subsequently been reintegrated back into the senior squad by his compatriot Maresca.

Appearances in the Premier League are unlikely in the short term, yet Casadei has been provided with two starts in the EFL Cup and Conference League.

Casadei reveals more about future

Ahead of the latter of those outings versus Gent last week, Casadei faced the media and acknowledged that discussions with Maresca led to him remaining at Chelsea.

Maresca has since commented himself on the player's situation, indicating that he plans to hand the former Inter Milan youngster regular opportunities in cup competitions.

Regardless of that, a question mark remained as to whether Casadei would be loaned out in January with Maresca able to recall players to Chelsea's Conference League squad for the latter stages, the assumption being that they will progress that far.

Nevertheless, speaking to Tuttosport, Casadei has insisted that he has no plans to move elsewhere at the midway point of the campaign.

He said: "I decided to stay at Chelsea in the summer as I spoke to Maresca and he's been very clear.

"I didn't have any doubt, I decided to stay and didn't consider any loan proposal. I'm so proud to be at Chelsea and I'm not planning for January move."

Is Casadei capable of breaking into Premier League squad?

Since losing on the opening weekend of the season to Manchester City, Chelsea have put together a six-match unbeaten streak in the Premier League.

There have been times when players such as Romeo Lavia and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have not made the squads for those fixtures due to injury and being down the pecking order.

With Casadei behind each of those players in Maresca's midfield list, he will not expect to be used in a top-flight fixture in the short term.

Next on the agenda for Casadei are fixtures away at Panathinaikos and Newcastle United in the Conference League and EFL Cup respectively. body check tags ::
