Chelsea are reportedly ready to open discussions with midfielder Mason Mount over a new long-term contract.
The academy graduate has established himself as one of Chelsea's key players since being promoted to the first team by Frank Lampard in 2019.
At the same time, Mount also penned a five-year contract, taking him to the end of the 2023-24 campaign, but it appears that Chelsea want to act fast in order to prevent any speculation in the future.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea officials have plans to discuss fresh terms with the 23-year-old and his representatives over the coming months.
Romano adds that, as it stands, there has been "no direct contact", but that is likely to change by the early summer at the very latest.
Mount has contributed 24 goals and 23 assists from his 141 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions. body check tags ::
