Chelsea have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with centre-back Thiago Silva over a 12-month contract extension.

The Brazilian defender joined the Blues on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last year and has featured 32 times this season.

Silva is due to be out of contract in a month's time, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that the 36-year-old is keen to stay on.

It is claimed that both parties are happy with the contract extension on offer, though official confirmation is not expected before the Champions League final.

Chelsea are also believed to be in early talks with midfield pair Jorginho and N'Golo Kante over prolonging their stays at Stamford Bridge.
