Chelsea have reportedly received a major blow ahead of the summer transfer window as defensive target Daniele Rugani is about to renew his contract with Juventus.
The 24-year-old is believed to have been on the Blues' radar for a number of months, coinciding with Maurizio Sarri's arrival at Stamford Bridge.
Rugani played under Sarri at Empoli and was said to be interested in linking up with his compatriot in English football, but Calciomercato suggests that an end-of-season switch is now off the cards.
Juve are said to have offered the Italy international a contract that runs through until the summer of 2023, worth £2.6m in wages plus bonuses - substantially more than the £1.5m he currently earns.
Rugani is expected to put pen to paper on an extended deal at the Allianz Stadium, making him the fourth player to do so this season after Sami Khedira, Miralem Pjanic and Alex Sandro.
