Chelsea reportedly agree to include a recent academy graduate in a deal to sign Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Chelsea are reportedly on the brink of signing Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall having agreed to include a young player in the deal.

The Blues have enjoyed a proactive period of transfer activity, even with the threat of breaching the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules seemingly being very much in play.

Defender Tosin Adarabioyo and Omari Kellyman have arrived from Fulham and Aston Villa respectively, with Ian Maatsen moving to the latter in a £37.5m deal.

Future sales could follow with Omari Hutchinson allegedly on the brink of linking up with Ipswich Town for a fee of at least £20m, albeit with Arsenal due a percentage of that deal courtesy of a sell-on clause.

Based on previous reports, it appeared more likely that further sales would materialise rather than Chelsea try to tie up deals before or on June 30, the final day for the latest accounts to be filed.

However, it appears that they are focused on getting more transfers over the line, particularly for Dewsbury-Hall.

Part-exchange deal on brink of completion

Chelsea have been battling to sign the Englishman, who worked under new head coach Enzo Maresca last year, with the onus on including at least one of their own players in the proposal.

Names such as Cesare Casadei and David Datro Fofana have been mentioned - two squad members who could earn regular football at the King Power Stadium.

Instead, according to Matt Law of The Telegraph, Michael Golding appears most likely to sign for last season's Championship winners.

Meanwhile, a report in football.london indicates that Chelsea have agreed to pay £30m to sign Dewsbury-Hall, who starred for Leicester in the second tier during 2023-24.

Leicester are under their own pressure to raise funds to fulfil the relevant financial criteria and have taken the chance to cash in on one of their most prized assets.

Who is Michael Golding?

Former Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino was not shy in blooding academy players throughout last season and Golding was one who got their chance.

The 18-year-old's opportunity came at the back end of the 4-0 victory over Preston North End in the FA Cup third round in January.

Golding replaced Enzo Fernandez in the 89th minute with the game already sewn up, and that would prove to be his only senior outing.

As many as 24 appearances came in various academy competitions, contributing two goals and three assists largely from central midfield.

Chelsea may have opted to part ways with the teenager due to only one year remaining on his contract. body check tags ::
