Chelsea have reportedly decided to offer a contract to Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira in January.
Khedira, whose current deal with Real Madrid expires at the end of the season, will be allowed to talk to clubs outside of Spain as soon as he enters the final six months of his contract.
According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are willing to place a pre-contract on the table in an attempt to beat their rivals to his services when he becomes a free agent.
Jose Mourinho is believed to be a big admirer of the 27-year-old after he worked with him during his stay in the Spanish capital.
Arsenal were repeatedly linked with Khedira in the summer transfer window, while Manchester United are also rumoured to be interested in the German.
