Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Barcelona attacker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Having allowed Romelu Lukaku to return to Inter Milan on loan for the 2022-23 campaign, the Blues are currently in the market for a new centre-forward.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but Thomas Tuchel's side have allegedly turned down the chance to bring the Portugal international to Stamford Bridge.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Aubameyang has emerged as a potential target for Chelsea, with the Blues considering making an attempt to bring him back to London.
Romano claims that Tuchel's side have already held talks with the forward's representatives, but the Premier League side are yet to submit an official offer for the 33-year-old.
Aubameyang played in the Premier League for Arsenal between 2018 and 2022, scoring 92 goals in 163 appearances for the Gunners during a successful spell.
The forward starred for the North London club during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 Premier League campaigns, scoring 22 goals in each season, but he managed just 10 league goals in 2020-21, while a disappointing first half of the 2021-22 campaign saw him net just four times in the Premier League.
Following the breakdown of his relationship with Arsenal, Aubameyang was allowed to join Barcelona on a free transfer in February, signing a contract with the club until June 2025.
The former Gabon international impressed for the Catalan giants in the second part of last season, scoring 13 goals and registering one assist in 23 appearances.
However, Aubameyang's starting role at Camp Nou is now under threat following the arrival of Robert Lewandowski, leading to suggestions that he could again be on the move this summer.
Barcelona have also signed Raphinha during the summer market, while Ansu Fati is back to full fitness, which could make it difficult for Aubameyang to secure regular starts this term.
The forward has an impressive scoring record during his professional career, netting 41 goals in 96 matches for Saint-Etienne ahead of a move to Borussia Dortmund, where he found the back of the net on 141 occasions in 212 appearances before arriving at the Emirates Stadium.
Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in Red Bull Salzburg's Benjamin Sesko, but they face competition from a number of clubs for the teenager, including Manchester United.
Tuchel's side, who finished third in the Premier League table last season behind Manchester City and Liverpool, will open their 2022-23 campaign away to Everton in Saturday's late start. body check tags ::
