Cole Palmer has confirmed that he is leaving Manchester City on transfer deadline day, with Chelsea set to announce his arrival on a long-term deal.

The speculation surrounding the Englishman's future has gathered pace over the last few days, with Chelsea emerging as the clear favourites to sign him.

Citizens head coach Pep Guardiola admitted earlier this month that the 21-year-old could be on the move before the end of the transfer window, with West Ham United thought to have expressed an initial interest.

However, Chelsea have moved quickly to agree a deal with Man City for the versatile forward, who has confirmed on his official Instagram account that his time at the Etihad Stadium has come to a close.

"Manchester City has been a part of my life for 15 years and it's all I've ever known since the age of 6," Palmer posted on social media ahead of his imminent move to Stamford Bridge.

"I have been very lucky to work with some amazing people along the way. To the coaches the staff, the physios and to all the people behind the scenes. I am very grateful and just want to thank you for helping me become who I am today.

"Also I would like to thank my team mates for the most amazing memories we created on and off the pitch together. I will never forget them, it was an honour to play with you all and I wish you all the best of luck.

"Thank you to Pep Guardiola and his staff for the opportunity's to play for this amazing club and giving me the memories only a small few can ever dream of, I will be forever grateful.

"Finally to the fans, thanks for all the support you have shown me as one of your own. @mancity will always hold a special place in my heart. All the best. Cole."

Palmer will leave Man City having represented the club on 41 occasions, scoring six goals and registering two assists in the process.

The Englishman has already featured three times for the club this season, scoring twice, netting against Arsenal in the Community Shield and Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup.

Palmer also made 25 appearances for the treble winners during the 2022-23 campaign, scoring once and providing one assist in the process.

Chelsea have been searching for a versatile forward in the latter stages of the market, and an announcement is now thought to be imminent, with Mauricio Pochettino's side expect to pay in the region of £40m plus a potential £5m in add-ons. body check tags ::
