Cole Palmer has reportedly completed his Chelsea medical ahead of his proposed transfer from Manchester City.

Having experienced a busy summer of activity, Chelsea have launched one final push to add to their squad in the closing days of the transfer window.

With Christopher Nkunku sidelined through injury, the Blues have been on the lookout for attacking reinforcements.

After identifying Palmer as a potential target, Chelsea submitted an initial £35m bid which was subsequently rejected by Man City.

Undeterred by their failed approach, the Blues returned to the negotiating table and managed to reach an agreement with the Citizens over a transfer.

Man City allegedly valued Palmer at £50m, but they have compromised on a deal that will see Chelsea pay an initial £40m fee with a further £5m in add-ons.

According to journalist Matt Law of The Telegraph, the 21-year-old has passed his medical and is expected to be unveiled as a Chelsea player on Friday.

Palmer joined Man City at Under-eight level before working his way through the youth ranks and up to the first team.

Since making his debut in a League Cup win over Burnley in September 2020, Palmer has gone on to make 41 appearances for the senior side, scoring six goals and providing two assists.

The attacker has made an impact for Pep Guardiola's side this term, scoring against Arsenal and Sevilla in the Community Shield and UEFA Super Cup respectively.

While Riyad Mahrez's departure seemingly opened up a space in the Man City side, the recent signing of Jeremy Doku has knocked Palmer back down the pecking order.

Palmer is set to compete for a place in the Chelsea side with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Noni Madueke.

The Man City academy product will also know Madueke and Levi Colwill from his time playing for the England Under-21s.

Palmer scored one goal and provided three assists to help England win the Under-21 European Championship earlier this summer. body check tags ::
