Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is in line for a new-and-improved contract at Stamford Bridge, according to a report.
Having shone for Crystal Palace with eight goals and five assists in 39 games during a loan spell last season, Gallagher returned to Stamford Bridge with the intention of making a name for himself at Chelsea.
The England international has featured regularly under Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, making 26 appearances in all tournaments and producing one goal and one assist.
Gallagher has played the full 90 minutes in each of Chelsea's last three Premier League games, but regular starts have been hard to come by for the 22-year-old this term.
Gallagher's start in Friday's draw with Fulham was just his 10th of the top-flight season, with a wealth of players competing for minutes in Potter's midfield, despite Jorginho's exit for Arsenal and N'Golo Kante's persistent injury woes.
Enzo Fernandez, Denis Zakaria, Mateo Kovacic, Carney Chukwuemeka, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Andrey Santos are also at Potter's disposal, leading to speculation over a possible exit for Gallagher.
Newcastle United and Everton were both said to be considering deadline-day moves for Gallagher, but Chelsea refused to let the Englishman leave, and he remains under contract until 2025.
According to The Sun, Chelsea are now planning to tie Gallagher down to fresh terms, which will also include a salary hike after he was blocked from leaving in January.
Gallagher is said to earn £50,000 a week under his current terms, but Blues co-owner Todd Boehly is keen to hand him a higher wage in order to retain his services.
The Englishman has been with Chelsea for 15 years since joining their academy in 2008, but he has been loaned out four times to Charlton Athletic, Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion and Palace.
Gallagher had not made a single first-team appearance for the Blues before this season, but he was a member of their 2018-19 Europa League winning squad.
With a £330m January spending spree now consigned to the history books, Boehly has made it his priority to agree contract extensions with several prominent names at Stamford Bridge.
A fresh deal for Gallagher's compatriot Mason Mount is said to be the number one focus, with the 24-year-old due to become a free agent at the end of next season.
Veteran centre-back Thiago Silva has also confirmed that talks are ongoing over an extension, which could see him remain at Stamford Bridge until just before his 40th birthday.
Armando Broja, Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah have all extended their Chelsea contracts since the start of the season, with each member of the trio now tied down until 2028. body check tags ::
