Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has said that Tottenham Hotspur never really led the chase to land Gary Cahill.
Cahill, who is understood to be on the verge of a £7m move to Chelsea, has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane since the summer. However, amid reports of a failure to agree personal terms at Stamford Bridge, the Bolton boss has continued to dismiss talk of a move elsewhere.
"Tottenham have always been admirers," he told reporters. "But they are more interested in swapping players. We could probably never afford their salaries."
Bolton travel to League Two side Macclesfield Town in the FA Cup this weekend.
