Juventus are reportedly hopeful of reaching an agreement with Daniele Rugani on a new contract to kill off Chelsea's lingering hopes of signing the centre-back.
The Blues tabled a "pretty big offer" for the Italy international during the summer transfer window, which Juve were quick to knock back.
Chelsea have refused to give up hope of landing the 24-year-old next year following Leonardo Bonucci's return to the Allianz Stadium, but Corriere dello Sport claims that they may be forced to look elsewhere.
Talks are said to be ongoing between the player and club over a lucrative contract, with Massimiliano Allegri making the renewal his top priority.
Rugani, already under contract with Juve for the next three years, has previously worked alongside Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri at Empoli.
