Frank Lampard is reportedly in constant talks with Napoli forward Dries Mertens over an end-of-season switch to Chelsea.
The 32-year-old is in high demand as he approaches the end of his Napoli contract, making him available on a free transfer this summer.
Liverpool, Manchester United and Roma have all been touted as possible destinations for Mertens, but Italian transfer expert Vincenzo Morabito has suggested that Chelsea may be leading the way.
Morabito told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli that Lampard is calling the Belgium international almost every day in an attempt to ensure that his side see off competition from other clubs.
Mertens has 12 goals and six assists in 29 games across all competitions this season and recently became Napoli's joint all-time leading goalscorer.
