FC Tokyo midfielder Yoshinori Muto has reportedly turned down a move to Premier League champions Chelsea.
The 22-year-old has been linked with a £4m move to Stamford Bridge, with the Blues submitting an offer for the Japanese international.
However, Muto has rejected the opportunity to join Chelsea, according to Goal.com.
The report adds that Muto has reservations about moving to a club where he will have limited first-team opportunities.
He is now said to be close to joining Bundesliga side Mainz 05, who are understood to have agreed a fee with Tokyo.
Muto has made 10 appearances for Japan, scoring once.
