Chelsea have allowed Matt Miazga to spend the season on loan at Nantes.
The Blues spent £3.5m to sign Miazga from New York Red Bulls in January 2016, but the United States international has gone on to make just two outings for the Premier League side.
Miazga has spent the last two seasons at Vitesse, with 65 appearances being made for the Dutch club, and the 23-year-old has now been allowed to join Nantes on a temporary basis.
Nantes have revealed that they have an option to buy Miazga next summer, with the centre-back having just two years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge.
The French club finished in ninth place in the Ligue 1 standings during the last campaign.
