Newcastle United are reportedly in discussions with Chelsea over a loan move for Timo Werner.

Although Thomas Tuchel is keen to retain the services of the Germany international, rumours have been circulating about the player's future.

Werner struggled for goals and playing time last season, scoring on four occasions in the Premier League, while he only made 15 starts in the competition.

As a result, Werner has been linked with a move away amid interest from Juventus, Newcastle and his former club RB Leipzig

According to The Mirror, Newcastle are in talks over a loan deal with Chelsea, which could include an option for a permanent transfer.

Despite entering negotiations, Eddie Howe's side are not prepared to pay Werner's reported £270,000 per week wages in full, which could result in Chelsea paying a proportion.

The other option would be for Werner to take a wage cut to facilitate a move away from Stamford Bridge. body check tags ::
