Neymar is reportedly planning to retire at Paris Saint-Germain, despite links with a return to Barcelona or a move to the Premier League.

After four years with the Catalan giants, the 31-year-old moved from Camp Nou to the Parc des Princes for a world-record fee of £198m in the summer of 2017.

The Brazilian forward has since been a key player in helping PSG win 12 trophies over the last five season, including four Ligue 1 titles, although he is yet to steer them to glory in the Champions League.

Neymar has scored a total of 118 goals and provided 77 assists in 173 appearances for PSG across all competitions, including 18 goals and 17 assists in 29 games this season.

However, the forward is unable to add to his impressive tally this term, as he has been ruled out for the rest of the 2022-23 campaign after undergoing ankle surgery last week.

Amidst Neymar's injury concerns and reported off-field issues, the Brazilian has been continuously linked with a possible exit from the Parc des Princes.

A move back to Barcelona has been mooted, while the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City have been linked with a potential big-money swoop for the forward, who is allegedly valued between £85m and £95m by PSG.

A recent report claims that Neymar has no plans to leave PSG before the end of his contract in the summer of 2027.

The Athletic have since stated that the Brazilian indeed wants to finish his career with the French giants and will pledge his future to the club as they bid to win more silverware and break their duck in the Champions League.

The report adds that it remains to be seen whether Neymar intends to retire from football at the end of his contract in 2027 when he will be 35 years of age – a year after the 2026 World Cup takes place in Canada, Mexico and the USA.

Neymar's plans to continue at PSG come at a time when the futures of fellow forwards Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe are believed to be uncertain, with the former out of contract in the summer.

Messi, 35, has suggested that he would be open to extending his deal at the Parc de Princes, but a recent report claims that PSG have decide to put contract talks with the Argentine and teammate Sergio Ramos – who is also out of contract this summer – on hold amid concerns over breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

Meanwhile, Mbappe allegedly has less than four months remaining to trigger a one-year extension clause in his PSG contract to keep him at the club until June 2025.

The 24-year-old recently insisted that he remains "very happy" in the French capital, but should he opt against activating the extension, Real Madrid are reportedly planning to reignite their interest in the forward with a view to luring him to the Santiago Bernabeu on a free transfer in 2024. body check tags ::
