Real Madrid will reportedly make another attempt to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer in the summer of 2024.

The 24-year-old was widely expected to move to Bernabeu on a free last summer, but he ultimately signed a new three-year contract with PSG.

Mbappe has again been in excellent form at club level during the 2022-23 campaign, scoring 31 goals and registering eight assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, the forward starred for France at the 2022 World Cup, netting eight times at the competition, including a hat-trick in the final against Argentina, who ultimately triumphed on penalties.

PSG are in a commanding position at the top of the Ligue 1 table, sitting 10 points ahead of second-placed Marseille, but they were knocked out of the Champions League in the round of 16 by Bayern Munich last week.

"We are disappointed... until when? I don't know, so far I'm talking about this season, I don't care about anything else, we lost against a great team and we have the league and we hope to win it," the attacker told reporters after the defeat to Bayern in Europe.

"My future? I'm calm, the only thing that matters to me is winning the league, I'm talking about this season and then we'll see. We have to move on, try to continue with our challenges.

"They have a team built to win the Champions League. We will talk to each other and we will return to our day to day in the championship."

Mbappe has a contract with PSG until the summer of 2025, but it is understood that he would be able to leave on a free transfer at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

According to AS, Real Madrid are again showing an interest in the Frenchman, as the Spanish and European champions look for a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema.

The report claims that Carlo Ancelotti's team will not make a move this summer due to the cost of the deal, with PSG almost certain to demand a world-record fee for his services.

However, Real Madrid are allegedly keeping a close eye on the situation with the view to potentially acquiring him on a free transfer in the summer of 2024.

Los Blancos have also recently been credited with an interest in Manchester City's Erling Braut Haaland, but Mbappe reportedly remains their leading target in the final third of the field.

Mbappe recently became PSG's all-time leading goalscorer, moving past Edinson Cavani at the summit.

In total, the World Cup winner has found the back of the net on 202 occasions in 249 appearances for the capital giants, in addition to contributing 96 assists during a highly-successful period.
