Real Madrid have reportedly focused their attention back on Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
The 25-year-old - who previously played for Real's city rivals Atletico Madrid - has two children, both of whom live with their mother in the Spanish capital.
Although Courtois is currently in talks with the Blues over a new contract, he has admitted that his "heart is in Madrid" and remains open to a move to the Bernabeu.
Los Blancos, meanwhile, are thought to have David de Gea at the top of their shortlist, but are aware of speculation suggesting that the Spaniard is to sign a new Manchester United deal soon.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Real are also not willing to spend more than €90m (£79m) for a new goalkeeper and, with De Gea supposedly valued at €120m (£105m), Courtois is deemed a better all-round option in terms of price and personal circumstances.
Courtois's existing deal at Stamford Bridge is set to expire at the end of next season.
