Chelsea have reportedly sent scouts to watch Welling United midfielder Sam Corne up close ahead of a potential January transfer.

The 19-year-old National League starlet is also said to be on the list of a number of other sides, which could spark a bidding war.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea could be pipped to the post by Millwall, however, who are offering the youngster guaranteed first-team football at senior level.

Despite this, it is claimed that the Blues are still closely tracking the England C international prospect with a view to longer-term development at Stamford Bridge.

Welling are currently 18th in the National League standings.
