Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly planning a swoop for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
The young Frenchman has established himself as one of the brightest centre-backs in European football since Mourinho gave him his Los Blancos debut in 2011.
According to Marca, the Portuguese coach has asked the Chelsea board to back him in an ambitious pursuit of Varane this summer.
The player's Madrid contract runs until 2017.
