Thiago Silva is reportedly interested in penning a new contract at Chelsea in the near future.

The Blues signed the Brazil international on a one-year deal in September with the option of extending the agreement by a further 12 months.

While the 36-year-old has made 21 starts in all competitions this season, the centre-back has missed 11 successive games with a thigh injury.

Nevertheless, according to The Express, both parties are keen to confirm that the veteran will spend another season in West London.

The alleged decision comes at a time when the likes of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger have impressed in Silva's absence, leaving him with a battle to regain his spot in the starting lineup.

His last outing came during the 1-0 victory away at Tottenham Hotspur on February 4.
