Chelsea have reportedly suffered a blow in their pursuit of Lecce star Patrick Dorgu.
The Blues made a number of additions in the summer, including Pedro Neto, Filip Jorgensen, Renato Veiga, Joao Felix, Tosin Adarabioyo and Jadon Sancho.
After being active in Enzo Maresca's first transfer window, Chelsea are expected to renew their efforts to strengthen their squad in 2025.
The Blues are believed to be keeping tabs on Leece's Dorgu, who is also attracting interest from Chelsea's London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Dorgu showcased his versatility for Lecce this season, having been used as a full-back and as a winger on both flanks for Luca Gotti's side.
Chelsea suffer blow in Dorgu pursuit
Dorgu has started all nine of his Serie A appearances this season, contributing to Lecce's attacking efforts with a couple of goals.
While Chelsea have been impressed with Dorgu's performances, they may have their work cut out to win the race to secure his signature.
According to GIVEMESPORT, Dorgu is likely to move to another Serie A club if he leaves Lecce in 2025.
The report also claims that Lecce will ask for around £34m for the 20-year-old, who is under contract until the summer of 2029.
Napoli considering Dorgu move
The Denmark international is said to have a host of potential suitors in Italy, including current Serie A leaders Napoli.
Antonio Conte's side are believed to be keeping a close on Dorgu's progress, as they weigh up whether to make a move in the future.
Lecce will be reluctant to sanction Dorgu's departure in the middle of the season, but they could entertain offers in next summer's transfer window.
By that point, Napoli will hope to have Champions League football to offer which could help them in their pursuit of the highly-rated Lecce talent.
