Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has expressed his belief that England manager Roy Hodgson should persuade John Terry to return to international football.
The Three Lions exited the World Cup in Brazil at the group stage for the first time since 1958 following two defeats, with the quality of their defending blamed for the results.
"Now may also be the time to try and tempt John Terry back into the England picture," Lawrenson wrote in the Daily Mirror.
"[Gary] Cahill and [Phil] Jagielka made so many mistakes against Uruguay and Italy. I don't buy into this idea that you can't put a potentially divisive player into the squad.
"He should have been in Brazil. He was the best centre-back in the country last season. Surely this has to be managed and sorted before Euro 2016."
Terry retired from international duty in 2012.
