Everton have progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a comfortable 5-1 victory over Cheltenham Town at Whaddon Road.

Mark Yates's men enjoyed a promising start to the contest, but it was the Toffees who went ahead in the 12th minute.

Bryan Oviedo and Marouane Fellaini linked up nicely down the left, and Nikica Jelavic reacted quickest when the Belgian's shot came back off Scott Brown's upright.

Leighton Baines was then given the chance to double Everton's lead from the penalty spot eight minutes later.

The referee deemed that Alan Bennett had climbed on the back of Fellaini, and the England international made no mistake as he sent the ball firmly into Brown's bottom-right corner.

It became 3-0 to Everton four minutes after the restart when Baines set up Leon Osman to shoot home after beating a defender.

Moments later the Robins threatened to stage a comeback, as Russell Penn fired in past Tim Howard to pull one back for the home team.

However, David Moyes's side wrapped up the win just before the hour mark when Seamus Coleman scored his first goal in almost two years, lobbing home after collecting Victor Anichebe's lifted pass.

Fellaini added the icing on the cake in the 89th minute when he slotted home Anichebe's cross from just eight yards.
