Jay O'Shea smacked an effort onto the crossbar early on for the hosts after good work from Ollie Banks.

By way of reply, Lee Mansell robbed Liam Cooper of possession for Torquay and fed Joss Labadie, who put his shot went just wide.

Labadie looked particularly dangerous for the visitors and dragged another effort past the wrong side of the post.
