Chesterfield defender Ian Evatt has stepped up his recovery from a serious knee injury by featuring in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Sheffield Wednesday's training ground.
The 31-year-old, who rejoined the League Two outfit on a free transfer last month after leaving Blackpool at the end of last season, has been out of action for nine months following knee surgery.
However, he returned to action on Tuesday afternoon as a double from Eoin Doyle helped the club to a 2-0 win over the Owls.
It is understood that Evatt could be in contention for the trip to Portsmouth this weekend should he suffer no adverse effects.
