Wycombe Wanderers, Exeter City and Chesterfield have been relegated from League One after they all suffered defeats this afternoon.
Wanderers seemed set to survive for another week as they entered stoppage time 3-3 with Notts County at Adams Park.
However, Alan Judge scored a late winner for the visitors to break Wycombe hearts and boost the Magpies' own playoff hopes.
Exeter and Chesterfield knew that only victory would be enough to maintain their League One status should Walsall earn a point at Huddersfield, which they did in a 1-1 scoreline.
That result meant Exeter's 4-1 defeat at Carlisle United and the Spireites' 3-2 loss to Yeovil Town condemned them to the fourth tier of English football.
Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday could be heading in the other direction after they beat Brentford 2-1 at Griffin Park.
Their cross-city rivals Sheffield United can jump above them with a win over Stevenage in Saturday's evening kickoff.
League One results: Brentford 1-2 Sheffield Wednesday; Bury 0-0 Oldham; Carlisle United 4-1 Exeter City; Colchester United 4-2 Tranmere Rovers; Hartlepool United 2-1 Leyton Orient; Preston North End 2-2 Charlton Atheltic; Rochdale 1-2 MK Dons; Scunthorpe 1-1 Bournemouth; Walsall 1-1 Huddersfield Town; Wycombe Wanderers 3-4 Notts County; Yeovil Town 3-2 Chesterfield.
