Former Italy head coach Giampiero Ventura is poised to return to club management with Chievo after Lorenzo D'Anna was sacked by the Flying Donkeys on Tuesday.
Ventura, 70, lost his job with the Azzurri last November following their surprise failure to qualify for the World Cup in Russia, and reports in Italy say he will resume his career in Verona this week.
A statement from Chievo said D'Anna, who oversaw six Serie A defeats and two draws this season, had been relieved of his duties at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi.
Chievo remain on minus points, having been docked three before the campaign began as a punishment for accounting irregularities. Club president Luca Campedelli is serving a three-month ban from football.
