Carlos Carmona: 'Chile can compete at highest level'

Chile have the belief to make progress at the World Cup, according to midfielder Carlos Carmona.

Chile midfielder Carlos Carmona has insisted that his teammates have proven they can be match for any side at the World Cup.

La Roja sealed a place in the last 16 after beating the defending champions Spain at the Maracana, but Carmona feels that Chile still have plenty to offer at this tournament, starting with their final group game against the Netherlands.

He told FIFA.com: "Knocking out the world champions shouldn't be underestimated. We've proven we can play to a high level against anyone. We demonstrated it in friendlies in the past, but of course that's not the same as doing it at the World Cup.

"I think it has also helped us believe that we can compete at the highest level. Our performance was impressive in every way. We exploited their weaknesses, and we got the three points that allowed us to qualify for the next phase.

"It was a historic match for our country. We started well and ended the game the stronger team too. We're so happy and proud. It was an indescribable feeling."

Chile can only top Group B if they beat Holland, as the Dutch already boast a superior goal difference.
