Colchester United have secured the services of Kaspars Gorkss on another "short-term contract".
Manager Tony Humes recently admitted that the Latvian was likely to leave the Colchester Community Stadium in the near future.
However, the player has sprung a surprise by agreeing to fresh terms with the League One club.
"Colchester United defender Kaspars Gorkss has signed another short term contract to extend his stay with the club," read a brief statement on the club's official website.
The U's went on to confirm that the paperwork has been cleared for Gorkss to feature against Peterborough United this afternoon.
