FIFA has confirmed that Colombia's Juan Camilo Zuniga will face no punishment for his challenge that ruled Neymar out of the World Cup.
It was confirmed on Saturday that the Brazilian talisman would sit out the rest of the tournament after Zuniga fractured a vertebra in his back during Brazil's quarter-final win over their South American rivals.
World football's governing body confirmed after the match that it would be investigating the incident, but it has now decided that action is not needed.
"After an analysis of the matter and the extensive submission and documentation received from the [Brazilian Football Association], the chairman came to the conclusion that the FIFA Disciplinary Committee cannot consider this matter in light of the conditions outlined in the FIFA Disciplinary Code for the Disciplinary Committee to be able to intervene in such a situation," read an official statement.
Following the incident, Zuniga took to Instagram to issue an apology to Neymar.
