Howard Webb will referee his first game of the 2014 World Cup on Friday when he takes charge of Colombia's encounter with the Ivory Coast.
The 42-year-old's lack of involvement during the opening batch of fixtures has been seen as an indication that he will feature more frequently in the latter part of the tournament.
Webb officiated the 2010 final in South Africa, showing one red card and 13 yellows as Spain beat the Netherlands to lift the trophy.
Colombia and the Ivory Coast both won their opening matches of this year's World Cup.
