A late goal from Thomas O'Brien has ensured that Cowdenbeath finished level with Dunfermline Athletic in the first leg of the final of the Scottish Championship playoff this evening.
The first chance of the night fell to the home side, but Darren Brownlie headed just wide as he tried to convert from a corner.
Cowdenbeath continued to push for the early goal, and came close to taking the lead when Kane Hemmings tried to head in from close range, only for Ryan Scully to make the save.
Andrew Geggan looked to create an opportunity for the visitors, but his drilled shot from the right-hand side of the box went wide.
Hemmings continued to pose a threat, forcing another save from Scully just before half time before winning a free kick at the start of the second.
Dunfermline started to see more of the ball as the second half progressed, and were able to break the deadlock inside the final 15 minutes when Daniel Grainger sent in a low cross for Geggan to slot in from close range.
Conceding seemed to rally the hosts for the final spell, and they were able to get back on level terms inside the last 10 minutes when O'Brien headed in from a Rory McKeown cross.
The striker came close to claiming another just three minutes later as he tried with another header, but this time his finish was saved, making sure that the teams remain level going into the second leg.
