Crystal Palace assistant manager Keith Millen has praised the Eagles' performance in the 4-1 victory over local rivals Charlton Athletic in the League Cup third round.
Dwight Gayle scored a hat-trick after Fraizer Campbell had opened the scoring, as a reshuffled Palace side booked a trip to the Etihad to face Premier League champions Manchester City in round four.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Millen said that he was pleased to see Gayle and Campbell make the most of their opportunities in the team and said that the side put on the kind of performance that the coaching staff had been hoping to see.
"It is nice to have your forwards scoring," he said. "Dwight and Fraizer looked sharp all night. They both looked dangerous so that will give everyone a confidence boost and it is nice to have some competition for the weekend.
"It was a performance that we wanted from the whole team, we had players who needed game time. We want to go as far as we can, we are in the last 16 and it's been a while since we had a cup run."
Palace now turn their attention back to the Premier League ahead of the trip to face promoted Watford on Sunday.
